History of Champlin, Minnesota

The area where Champlin is now located was first settled in 1852. The name came from US Navy Commodore Stephen Champlin who fought against England and Canada in the ware of 1812.  In 1947 incorporation to create the village of Champlin was achieved and on the 2nd of January 1971, the city of Champlin was formed.
